Seaclops sea trials: lowering the spar buoy into the water

Our Seaclops spar buoy went from the quayside to the water this week during sea trials at the marina. The team ran the full deployment sequence — a final check of the sealed instrument housing on the dock, a careful crane lift to bring the buoy vertical, and a slow, controlled descent until it settled upright and self-stabilised on the surface. Once afloat, the mast broke the waterline exactly as designed, keeping the antenna clear for its first SatCom uplink. Within minutes the device was reporting position and status into GMaaS — proof that the offshore hardware, the satellite link, and the platform all work together end to end, from a device on the water to a live pin on the map.
